Pre Menstrual Syndrome

okie ppl.. tats a issue for gals which guys will nv b able to understand.. gals suffer every mth.. nt jus the few days when our aunt comes visit us.. prior to tat, we suffer sth weird cal 'PMS' and tat is 'Pre-Menstrual-Syndrome'.. tis 3-letter word can gets abit too scary at times.. its can get over us n we oso dunno y...

let me tell u some of the symptons of PMS ...

There's a long list of symptoms attributed to PMS. Some of the more common ones are:

headache
feeling bloated
weight gain
breast tenderness
back or lower abdominal pain
irritability or aggression
depression and anxiety
mood swings
tiredness
poor concentration

see?? we gals suffer so much even b4 the big day comes.. haizz~~

for ur info, PMS can develop into sth more sever call 'Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder' (PMDD),in which the emotional symptoms, such as depression, mood swings, anxiety and tension, are particularly serious. It occurs in only a small percentage of women with PMS.

SO.. wat actualli causes PMS? well.. no1 knws the exact reason y but suggested reasons are :

>> abnormal sensitivity to hormones - some women may be more sensitive to the normal levels of the hormone progesterone released into the blood during the second half of the menstrual cycle. One effect of over-sensititivity to progesterone is a reduced level of a brain chemical called serotonin, which is involved in controlling mood.

>> nutrients - some people think that the symptoms may result from or be aggravated by variations in nutrients such as magnesium and calcium, although there is limited scientific evidence for this.

haizz.. poor thing.. i wld say almost evry gal has suffered frm pms and it can affect our life too.. well.. im one real life example.. every mth there will be a period of times whereby i'll get exceptionally moody, easily irritated, severe mood swings, depression n i cant concentrate... i gets upsets n i dun wana feel tis way too but cant be help.. im too emotional... haizz~~

can PMS be cured? definitely.. try these..

>> Taking regular exercise, such as aerobics or jogging - exercise can help with the symptoms, but it should be done regularly, not just when symptoms are present.

>> Avoiding stress at home and work in the time before a period is due.

>> Pinpointing and avoiding any emotional triggers or stress that make the symptoms worse; discussing these with your partner or a friend and asking for their support.

>> Daily magnesium or calcium supplements may help.

>> Some women find that taking evening primrose oil helps relieve breast discomfort but the scientific evidence is patchy. Long-term treatment (more than 3 months) may be required before any effect is noticed.

personally, i've tried exercising n taking Evening Primose Oil and i would say, its helps!! taking EPO has in fact allowed me to be in betta control of my mood swings n lessens my grouchiness, -ve tinkg etc.. u can get it at any pharmacies.. I got mine frm GNC but a little pricey.. cost $90.35 for 180 softgels to be taken once or twice daily.. but wld u rather remain unhappy n suffer PMS in silence or wld u be willingly to part a little money so as to maintain tat constant smile on ur face? i'll definitely go for the 2nd option..

however, an alternative way is to eat a healthy diet.. a balanced diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables and contains plenty of complex carbohydrates (wholemeal bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc.) certainly promotes general good health. but, i cant do it.. cos im a junk.. i eat watever i wan, wateva i feel like... ( tats y im so fat now.. yah peeps.. i knw tat.. gif me sm time to shed off the kilos.. i was slim once so i will be slim again )

okie.. aft the PMS den comes the BIG DAY.. auntie arrives.. wat to do? its either u slap on a sanitary pad or stick a tampon in.. here's the definition of the two..

Sanitary Pad : is a pad composed of cotton and other absorbent material that used by menstruating women to absorb blood flow from the uterus. It is placed on the outside of the body, in contact with the vulva.

Tampon : is a (usually disposable) plug that a woman inserts into her vagina during her menstrual period to absorb the flow of blood.

during the few days of the menstrual cycle = discomfort n troublesome cos we always hafta change the pads or tampons regularly n it can gets pretty disgustg at times.. but no choice cos we r born wif it.. tats sth God gave us which we cant reject.. n bear in mind sth cal menstrual cramps which happens usually on the first 2 days wif the pain unexceptionally untolerable on the 1st day.. which can reali gets sm turning in bed so helplessly..

so guys out der, plssss for goodness sake!! pls treat we gals betta.. we reali suffer alot every mth.. pls be more kind n understanding (even thou ur will nv be able to understand wat we r gg thru) but at least, gif in to us.. tats the minimal u can do.. if we r unreasonable, cant be help.. we dun wan to be lik tis but its jus like tis..
