financial advisor - r they a fren or a foe?




can any1 tel me the ans? r financial advisor a fren or foe? guess every1 mus haf met at least 1 in ur entire life.. r they jus out there to bug u to buy in order for them to earn their commission or r they reali sincere in helpin u to plan out ur finances? so wad is it? i dunno.

personally, i've met dozens of them.. everywhere!! when im shoppin, i'll c them in roadshows, when i take a bus, i'll c them askin ppl do surveys.. on my graduation day, i c them again... even when im slpg, i get calls frm them as well!!!! wth... gif me a break!!!

recently im on the job hunt cos i jus graduated... time for me to start workin n its pretty natural for ppl nowadays to apply jobs online.. tats wat i did n gosh!!! i get so many calls frm these many diff companies askin me go down for interview for sales & marketing position so a smarter me now ask wad product they r sellin n when i heard its financial plannin, i rejected it immediately..

N guess wat they say next!??!?! let me narrate one incident to u. . .

advisor : den will u be interested to get financial products?
me : nope
advisor : y not?
me : cos i got it alrdy
advisor : oh.. can u tell me wat haf u gotten? do u knw all of us shld get the 3 basic plans? tats the life, savings n cpf.
me : yes i knw tat n i alrdy got the life n savings.
advisor : wat abt cpf?
me : i cant get it. cos im below 21.
advisor : oic.. den can i cal u bac few mths later?
me : nope
advisor : ermmm.. den do u haf any other frens who might be keen for sm financial advice?
me : sorry i no frens... (hang up)

haha... tis advisor reali cast an impression on me.. nt onli she ask me for interview but at the same time do her cold callings as well.. haha..~~

but stil, i kena con to go down for an interview today for a sales & marketing position.. when i rch den i realise its prudential office.. damn... ~~!!

as usual, i fill up the form, took the personality test etc.. den i met the boss of tat agency.. he keep persuading me to join his company.. using all lucrative means n ways.. esp in terms of monetary.. actualli i knw the pay out long ago liao.. jus in case sm of u dunno, let me share wif u..

once an advisor closes a deal, he continues to get commission for the next 6 years..

1st yr - 50%
2nd yr - 25%
3rd yr -10%
4th yr - 5%
5th yr - 5%
6th - 5%

which means to say, if u were to buy a policy n pays $100 every mth, $50 goes to the advisor's pocket. so u scrimp n save n paid $1200 in the 1st yr but $600 goes to the advisor.... &*^*#^*#

but put in another angle. if u r the advisor, u get guranteed income for the next 6 yrs.. c the diff? but as i say, if a person can maintain his foot in tis industry, he's 1 freakg rich chap but for those who cant, too bad, no luck for them n gotta b bac to square 1 n b a poor chap..

an advice for ur.. if u wana get rich, u can consider being a financial advisor. although der's no basic but the income tat u're gonna earn is UNLIMITED.. tink abt it.. for any other job, the income is fixed.. even if u get promotion or pay increment, theres a limit.. a nurse at the most may onli be paid ard $3-4k aft workin for a few yrs but can she be paid $8k in the yrs to come? definitely not!!

shld i be a financial advisor? well.. maybe yes maybe no.. we shall c.. but pls.. dun shoo me off next time if i ever reali bcm 1 k...
